Duncansville, PA – June 11, 2018Private Care Resources Inc. (PCR) of Duncansville, PA, has been acquired by Transitional Paths to Independent Living (TRPIL) of Washington, PA.

“With the recent introduction of the Community HealthChoices program, and the transformation of how seniors and people with disabilities in Pennsylvania receive medical and long-term care services, a new strategy is needed,” said Ann Bender, former owner of PCR.

Founded in 2000, Private Care Resources Inc. was a state-licensed and Medicaid certified home health agency providing customized medical and non-medical care. PCR served a sixteen-county area in western Pennsylvania. Their mission was to allow individuals to remain safely and comfortably in the privacy of their own home for home medical, non-medical, and/or Companion Care Services. PCR has been rebranded as TRPIL Home Health (THH), and its operations will be enriched by an infusion of the independent living philosophy: especially the concepts of consumer choice and control.

“The opportunity to become part of an energetic and growing organization like TRPIL was too good to pass up in this uncertain and changing health care landscape. TRPIL has a long track record in providing consumer-controlled, quality long-term care and supports,” continued Bender.

TRPIL Community Services trains and coordinates over 550 direct care workers who work daily with 600 consumers, assisting them with daily living requirements (getting out of bed, personal hygiene, meals, getting to appointments, grocery shopping, and light housekeeping). TRPIL also includes Nursing Home Transition Coordinators and specialists in home modifications for accessibility on their staff. TRPIL’s mission is to strengthen consumer choice and active citizenship through leadership, services, and programs.

“This acquisition will enhance and expand the types of care and support our consumers receive,” said Kathleen Kleinmann, CEO of TRPIL. “With the expertise we’re gaining from PCR, TRPIL can enter into the world of providing in-home medical care services. These services are often of vital importance for people with disabilities to continue to live and work independently – and participate as citizens – in our communities.”
