TRPIL Capital Campaign Golf Outing 2017
(For more photos, please see this event's Facebook Photo Album .)
Monday, October 2, 2017, was sunny, but cool and breezy. Our second annual TRPIL Capital Campaign Golf Outing brought together over a hundred donors Lone Pine Country Club to play 18 holes of golf.

As the participants arrived at the clubhouse ballroom for check-in, the had the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a number of prizes graciously provided by donors. The golfers met, mingled, and laughed together.
After an 11 am light lunch, a shotgun start at noon began the event. Tee and green signs throughout the course showed the names and/or logos of the event's sponsors. Around 5:30 pm, the golfers assembled for dinner, which was followed by an awards dinner where various awards for achievements of the day were presented.
The event was an great success! It not only raised needed "community match" money for TRPIL's cutting-edge, accessible headquarters and community center in the renovated YWCA building in Washington, but also broadened the knowledge and understanding of how TRPIL's programs and services support people with disabilities in southwestern PA live independently, on their own terms.
TRPIL advocates for the civil rights of people with disabilities and promotes independent living in our Southwestern PA communities. Many of the consumers that we serve are considered to be very low income per federal guidelines.
In addition to this advocacy, we provide a variety of much-needed services (including skills training, peer support, and information & referral) and programs (on assistive technology, transportation advocacy, health & wellness, and youth transitions from high school to work/college).
Through TRPIL Community Services, we offer personal assistance services, nursing home transitions, and training for direct care workers. Every two weeks, during payroll, we pay over $450,000 to our direct care workers and staff for our in-house services.
As noted above, all proceeds from the golf outing will benefit the TRPIL Capital Campaign for renovation of the former YWCA Building, 42 West Maiden Street, Washington, into TRPIL’s new headquarters and community center.
Our official groundbreaking was on July 31, 2017.
By summer 2018, our renovation of the Y will be complete! TRPIL will be better able to serve our entire community – not just our members and consumers, but all of our neighbors.
If you’re interested in participating in next year's golf outing on Monday, September 24, 2018; being a Tee and/or Green Sponsor; or donating to our cause -- please contact Joann Naser.
